Robert Bokman

Rob has dedicated his legal career to helping children and families. Over the past 27 years, he has litigated and advocated for children and families in thousands of cases involving custody, representing parents, serving as a Best Interest Attorney for children, and representing children and Child Welfare Services in child abuse/neglect and adoption cases. Rob currently serves as counsel for the Frederick County Department of Social Services, which he has done since 2009, and previously represented Child Welfare Services in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties.
Rob strives to provide legal counsel that allows for the best outcomes for children and families in these various roles. He has particular expertise in child abuse, substance use, sex abuse, and intimate partner violence, as well as in children with special needs. He believes that resolving custody cases amicably often serves families best, but he enjoys vigorously litigating cases for his clients when litigation is necessary.
Rob grew up in Prince George’s County and attended the University of Maryland for both his B.A. in Psychology and his law degree. He is a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and also enjoys watching soccer and reading literature. He currently resides in Rockville with his blended family – following his own divorce – including his wife, Colleen, his two sons (an IDF paratrooper and a student at Brandeis), and his step-daughter (an MCPS high school student).
